Indoor Mapping for Safety, Security & Martyn’s Law Compliance

Navigating safety governance and emergency readiness for public spaces requires a balance between public transparency and operational security. As the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law) moves toward full enforcement under the Security Industry Authority (SIA), venue operators must establish robust, audited counter-terrorism procedures without exposing critical vulnerabilities to the general public.

By utilising dynamic, multi-layered spatial mapping, RICHPiX 360 delivers the tools needed to train staff, inform first responders, and satisfy statutory governance—while ensuring public-facing sites remain strictly sanitised.

The Role of Multi-Layered Spatial Mapping

A single, flat blueprint cannot serve both a visiting guest and a tactical response team. Multi-layered 3D indoor mapping segregates spatial information into controlled, role-based views:

1. Public-Facing Layer (Sanitised)

  • Goal: Accessible wayfinding, general layouts, and visitor navigation.

  • Sanitisation & Scrubbing: Automatically redacts sensitive operational infrastructure, CCTV blind spots, access control points, structural weak points, and security control centres to ensure public maps cannot be exploited by bad actors.

  • Open Access: Runs seamlessly on any mobile web browser or interactive kiosk without exposing underlying operational schemas.

2. Operational & First Responder Layer (Restricted)

  • Goal: Direct tactical awareness for internal security teams, site managers, and emergency services (Police, Fire, HART).

  • Critical Data: Overlays real-time location of emergency equipment, structural isolation valves, CCTV line-of-sight cones, secure invacuation zones, and designated staging posts.

  • Rapid Deployment: Gives first responders immediate 3D visual context before they set foot on-site during an active incident.

Martyn’s Law Preparedness & Governance

Martyn’s Law introduces a legal obligation for premises to establish clear public protection procedures. High-fidelity spatial maps serve as the foundational backbone for the three core operational requirements outlined in statutory guidance: Guide, Shelter, and Communicate.

  • Guide (Evacuation Planning): Interactive 3D maps allow venue operators to model, stress-test, and visualise primary and secondary evacuation corridors, step-free emergency exits, and crowd flow bottlenecks under capacity constraints.

  • Shelter (Invacuation & Lockdown): High-precision spatial data accurately defines secure internal zones, lockdown perimeter barriers, and remotely controlled access doors to shelter occupants safely in place.

  • Communicate (Staff & First Responder Training): Interactive 3D walkthroughs and digital twins provide immersive scenario-based training for staff, ensuring door supervisors, duty managers, and response teams know their precise operational roles.

Self-Maintained Spatial Data Sovereignty

A counter-terrorism or emergency preparedness map is only as reliable as its latest update. When physical layouts, tenant spaces, or fire exit paths change, static PDFs and third-party hosted models quickly become hazardous liabilities.

  • No Subscription Lock-In: You own your spatial datasets, point clouds, and CAD models outright.

  • Self-Serve Updates: We provide your facilities and estate teams with open tools and straightforward workflows so you can re-scan, edit, and keep your internal spatial models completely up to date in-house without recurring service fees.

  • Audit-Ready Governance: Maintain an unalterable, time-stamped digital record of your site assessments, risk mitigations, and floor plan revisions to satisfy statutory compliance reviews by the SIA.
